Before work starts

Schedule decisions and dependencies before dates

A preferred start date is only one part of a project plan. Demolition may depend on access, owner decisions, professional assessments, permissions or work by another provider. Mapping those dependencies helps explain what must be ready before a date can be meaningful.

In this guide

Work backwards from readiness

List the conditions identified during assessment and the person responsible for each. Separate a task that has been requested from one that is complete and confirmed. A booked appointment or submitted application is not the same as the required result.

Include owner decisions such as the final removal boundary and the treatment of retained items. A delayed design choice can affect demolition even when the site itself is accessible. Identify which decisions can wait and which control the proposed scope.

Connect the handoffs

Record what each provider needs before starting and what it must give the next party. Ask the relevant contractors to review the sequence rather than arranging overlapping visits based only on convenience. Access, collections and occupied areas can create conflicts between otherwise separate tasks.

Do not turn an estimated sequence into a completion guarantee. If one dependency changes, identify the affected activities and ask the responsible parties to update the plan. Keep any confirmed access restrictions visible during that review.

Communicate the current status

Use simple statuses such as awaiting information, arranged, confirmed complete and needs review. Tell YAK which prerequisites are already resolved and which are pending. This supports an honest planning conversation without implying that being open 24/7 establishes an arrival or completion promise.

Bring these details

  • Name every prerequisite owner
  • Distinguish arranged from complete
  • Review downstream effects of changes
