Walk the written scope
Use the removal list, retention register and current drawings. Review each item in an area that the responsible contractor has made available for the review. Do not enter a restricted or unsafe area to take photographs or inspect work.
Separate a missed scope item from a newly requested task. A change in your renovation plan may require a new discussion rather than being treated as an incomplete original item. Record the distinction clearly so the next step can be agreed.
Record the remaining questions
List unfinished or disputed items by location and refer to the relevant scope wording. Use factual photographs where appropriate. Identify who will answer each question and what information is needed, without assigning technical cause from appearance alone.
Keep contractual completion, permit inspections and specialist clearances separate. A walkthrough does not replace any required authority review or establish that a remaining surface is ready for the next trade. Ask the responsible party for the specific confirmation needed.
Close the record
Keep the dated completion note, agreed follow-up items and any revised instructions together. Confirm who receives the property and relevant documents. When discussing a YAK scope, define the intended handoff condition early so a future completion review has a clear basis.
